Qualifying Opportunities
Big Mountain Studio
The cover image above is from the Qualifying Opportunities feature in the aQuity Opportunity Management app. It required some fairly complex coding. When the author of the ‘B2B or Not to B…’ embarked on developing the aQuity app, he was faced with various options for the ideal platform and development environment. The best and obvious choice was the modern Swift programing language for the logic and SwiftUI for the user interface. These work seamlessly together and the added benefit was that firstly Apple does not penalise developers with exorbitant fees. Secondly that Apple takes care of the backend – meaning that the technical complexities of publishing an app and hosting the data are all taken care of for iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
The initial learning curve was steep. However, the discovery of Big Mountain Studio’s illuminating publications and that of the thorough YouTube videos by Stewart Lynch (the consummate teacher) soon removed the obstacles and challenges. Another valuable contributor is Chris https://codewithchris.com, who is seemingly able to telepathically home in on your current coding challenge.
The author is aware that developing for the Apple platforms only is tantamount to ignoring a large potential user base. An entire new skill set is required to embark on the next major phase of releasing the equivalent functionality as a web based app. However, first things first. The immediate plans are to roll the app out for iPad and macOS allowing the user to update and review the same data set from any of these Apple devices. Thereafter, it is a small step to produce an enterprise version for sales teams and the sales leaders.
Developing apps and coding aren’t for every on. Besides these eat into valuable selling time. However, if you are at all inclined to develop your own app or merely dabble, we offer the various options from Big Mountain Studio.
